Application: You can reach us with a CV and motivation letter at: bsi.erl9002@univ-lille.fr

We expect to welcome PhD students, post-doctoral fellows and engineers on several projects that are funded. This is a great opportunity to join the team as an early-stage researcher, and bring your scientific talent and enthusiasm to contribute to our projects. The PhD candidates will obtain their PhD degree from Lille University.

The projects rely on the expression and purification of recombinant proteins and on the use of advanced biophysical methods, such as high-field NMR spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography or cryo-EM.

The Integrative Structural Biology team is dedicated to investigation of the structural bases and molecular mechanisms underlying protein biological functions, and the impact of their deregulation in human diseases.

At the heart of our work are biophysical multidisciplinary methods for characterizing the structure of proteins, as well as the interactions between them, such as Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy. We are proud to offer a unique workplace culture that inspires interdisciplinary collaboration. Within this environment we are open to expression of various perspectives and ideas.

State-of-the-art NMR instrumentation is managed by the group, including 3 high field spectrometers (600/800/900MHz), two of them equipped with cryoprobes and a 1.2 GHz will be installed in 2022. The NMR platform (800/900MHz) is integrated in the IR RMN-THC, a national network of NMR laboratories. The 600MHz is financially supported by the Institut Pasteur of Lille. We have a screening robot for cristallogenesis and access to synchrotron beamline time. The lab has also recently acquired a cryo-plunger to prepare electron microscopy grids. All necessary wet-lab facilities for large scale recombinant protein production and purification are available, as well as equipment for biophysical characterization of protein interactions (isothermal titration calorimetry ITC, surface plasmon resonance SPR) and protein aggregation (96-microwell plate fluorescence reader PHERAstar). Access to microscopy platform and to mass spectrometry platform is granted. We also have a basic MALDI-TOF for analytical characterization in the lab.

Skills required:

We are looking for highly motivated, experimentally skilled young scientists, with background in one or several of the following fields: Protein biochemistry, NMR spectroscopy, Structural biology, Molecular Dynamics, Biocomputing. The daily activities of the early-stage researcher consist mainly in research, but it is also expected that the candidate participates in the internal seminars, courses and local and international scientific events. Collaboration with other PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers and other members of the team and consortium will be encouraged. Please consults our project web page to know more about our interests.
